Fabric Chalkboard DIY

Hi Everyone! Chalk boards seem to be the trend lately and I just love the idea of pairing them with wine racks for my eat in kitchen. This fabric chalkboard was born because I couldn't figure out an easy way to mount the wine racks on the fabric boards. My solution-create a chalk board with a fabric border frame.  Here is how I did it.

Supplies
Art canvas in your desired size
Enough fabric to cover your canvas
Chalkboard paint
Paint brush
Ruler or Measuring tape
Chalk
Staple gun
Pencil

First cover your canvas with fabric. Make sure the fabric is pulled tight and secure it to the back of your canvas frame with a staple gun.

Next, measure and mark your desired frame width. I used a 2 inches for mine. Use painters tape and tape off the border.

Next paint the chalkboard according to the instructions on your paint bottle. Mine advised two coats of paint. Make sure you let each coat dry completely before applying the next coat.

Let your chalkboard dry for at least 24 hours after the last coat. Peel off your painters tape to reveal a clean edge.

Rub board all over with chalk before you use.
Erase and you are all set!

I am still waiting on my husband to hang the two chalkboards and the wine racks but I will post a pic as soon he does. Maybe I will even hang them myself, but that could be dangerous for my walls :)

Post pics if you try my DIY. I would love to see them!
